This seven-week Intensive Geometry course will review all major Geometry topics as well as strengthen the skills for students who have previously taken a Geometry course. For students who have not yet taken a full year of Geometry, this is a basic course to enable you to improve performance in future math courses including Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. Successful completion of this course is equivalent to completing a one-semester course of Geometry and will earn a high school half-credit.
Course topics are as follows:
- Week 1: Lines and Angles
- Week 2: Right Triangles
- Week 3: Congruence and Similarity
- Week 4: Other Similarity and Transformations
- Week 5: Quadrilaterals and Circles
- Week 6: Logic and Proofs
- Week 7: Surface Areas and Volumes
Course Structure
Students will build confidence by in-class practice and refresh their comprehension of topics by watching video tutorials, practicing problem solving with an app that gives immediate feedback and allows for multiple attempts, and maintaining a comprehensive, guided theorem note sheet. Instruction will be provided in pre-recorded videos and weekly live problem-solving sessions. Grades will be based on teacher-graded scanned homework worksheets, automatically graded assignments, and note-taking. No text is required for this course; all worksheets, activities, and solutions will be provided by the teacher. A scientific calculator is required.
Who should enroll?
Students in 9th grade or above are invited to enroll. The well-prepared applicant is familiar with the fundamentals of Algebra and has the maturity to diligently complete the assigned homework and seek additional help when needed. Learning how to learn mathematics is stressed in this course, so students who are motivated to improve should apply.
