Course Description
Founded in 2023, this student-led club meets weekly on Tuesdays from 1:30-2:30 PM ET. Students in 6th grade and up, from beginner to advanced, are invited to join. The club is very well organized and includes tips for improving your chess game as well as plenty of time to play chess and participate in individual and club tournaments.
Club members must be enrolled in at least one class at AAO and have a Chess.com account (or set one up). That account is then linked to our AAO Chess Club account. Regular attendance is expected. Students must notify the club president in advance if they cannot attend that week to allow organizers to set up tournaments and individual games.
Student Leader: Hi! I’m Keaton, I’m 16 and a sophomore this year. I’m an aspiring zoologist, avid tennis player, member of the Distinguished Scholars Program at Aim, and an enthusiastic chess player. I’ve been playing chess since first grade, and I love playing it in my free time. I also work at a local zoo as a zookeeper, and I look to go into zoology when I get older. I play tennis on the USTA circuit, in the boys 16 and under division. I have a dog, and two siblings. My family loves traveling, and I’ve been to countries like Croatia, Ireland, and France. That’s all you need to know about me! I hope you will join us this year for chess club!
