David Nance Reviews
Parent (Advanced Spanish with Embedded Geography) – May 2, 2023
The class was well taught and the opportunity for my daughter to use her Spanish on a regular basis was beneficial. She also enjoyed the projects/assignments. The schedule was great. Wonderful instructor. Good content. Thank you for the opportunity and for providing an overall positive experience!

I really appreciate the style of teaching and the different approach to learning that we had. I like how the class allowed us to be really creative with out work, and we got to be independent with our assignments. I also liked the fact that we could branch out and explore a lot about each topic, without being restricted.

My daughter loved his class and felt she could follow. The greatest benefits were not assigning too much busy work and creating an environment where students feel accomplished and eager to learn. I appreciate David being patient with my daughter and actively trying to engage her .

My daughter is pleased with the experience and is being appropriately challenged in the subject matter; she is enjoying the class. Sr. Nance has plenty of experience with the Spanish language and with teaching.
Student (Spanish 1) – April 1, 2022
The teacher is very creative and keeps students engaged and interested. The material is challenging, but very doable.
Parent (Spanish 2-4 w Embedded Economics) – March 25, 2022
Overall, Mr. Nance’s Spanish classes have exceeded our expectations by the nature of their topical vocabulary and content, which provides motivation for learning new material. We have been impressed at the progress our son has made. The topical focus is a great strength, as well as the requirement for daily practice with lots of listening to different native speakers.

Absolutely LOVE having an online Spanish Immersion option to learn other subjects in Spanish that help support advanced Spanish learners further develop their vocabulary while also improving and retaining their existing Spanish skills. Allowed further development in Spanish vocabulary while learning a new subject (ie, Economics) while both strengthening and retaining existing Spanish skills. LOVE IMMERSION CLASSES!
Student (Spanish 1) – March 25, 2022
I really liked how this class uses activities to learn Spanish instead of tests and memorizing. I think this approach made me learn a lot more than with tests and memory. This class makes it fun to learn Spanish. The assignments don’t really feel like assignments, they are educational while being a lot of fun.

I loved this class! I really liked the teachers, they were always responsive and engaged during and after class times. They will always answer your questions quickly and will be supportive and willing to help you catch up in case you get behind during class. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn Spanish in a comfortable environment, and I would even recommend this class to the seasoned Spanish speaker who is just looking to keep their Spanish skills up.

This course has helped me learn Spanish quickly, and it was very fun! While I was learning I interacted with people all over America, had great discussions, and viewed interesting news articles. I say thank you to everyone who has helped with this course, and to my classmates.

My son enjoyed this class because the Spanish learning was applied to current events rather than being learned as a subject in isolation. The combination of consistent practice via duolingo and immersion with listening to and watching Spanish podcasts and shows was both engaging and reinforced learning in multiple ways. His Spanish improved significantly over the course of the year and he plans to continue next year with Spanish and Health.

Both the Nances are effective and engaging teachers. They integrate culture and spanish speaking into live class conversation. They focus on immersion in the language, which is very effective, but they don’t hesitate to explain Spanish grammar when questions about it come up. The balance between Duolingo, projects, and weekly timesheets is perfect for lots of immersion in the language plus gaining grammar knowledge at the same time. It is an all around great class which I highly recommend.

This Spanish class has very friendly and fun live classes. Before my first live class, I was a little nervous, but by the end of my first class, I felt completely comfortable and was no longer nervous at all. Although the concept of immersion isn’t what works best for me personally, it was still an enjoyable class for me.
Margaret B. (Parent Spanish 1-4 with Health) – April 23rd, 2017
“My daughter took the Spanish Health class and I cannot speak highly enough about this approach to learning Spanish! My daughter was hesitant to take the class because she only knew some basic vocabulary and did not want to feel self-conscious with the teacher or among other students who had more experience. Not only did she learn Spanish this year, she also learned about important health topics! Sr. Nance did an outstanding job making my daughter comfortable enough to learn and made learning Spanish a fun and meaningful experience!”
Sarah Oliver (Spanish 1-4 with Economics) – May 17th, 2017
“This year I enrolled my daughter into Mr. Nance’s class for Spanish, Level 3. Previously, she had completed Rosetta Stone, Levels one and two, and she also had taken BJU Spanish.
As soon as my daughter started Mr. Nance’s course, she was raving about how the Spanish Language had finally come to life for her. She thoroughly enjoyed the projects and assignments, as well as Mr. Nance’s teaching style. Mr. Nance made himself available for any questions, and was extremely helpful with everything she needed throughout the school year. I would highly recommend his Spanish courses to any high school student.
Thank you, Mr. Nance!”
Naomi (Spanish 1-4 with Economics) – May 17th, 2016
“I took Sr. Nance’s Spanish 3 class my senior year of high school. Going into the class, I had already taken 4 years of Spanish, but I did not feel confident in my Spanish speaking or writing abilities, at all.
Upon starting the school year with Sr. Nance, I knew instantly that I was going to love his class. His teaching methods create a positive, stress-free environment that truly encourages learning and academic growth. No question is unimportant; he spends time giving in-depth answers until he is sure that his students understand the concepts. Every assignment is fun; Sr. Nance creates unique, interactive assignments that never feel like work, but significantly teach about the Spanish language, history, and culture. His classes helped me understand the Spanish language in a way that no textbook or computer program ever did.
Throughout my high school career, I have taken dozens of online courses through multiple online schools, including colleges and universities. Out of all the professors I have had, Sr. Nance was the best teacher that I have experienced. He went above and beyond helping me with my Spanish skills. Not only did he help me improve my Spanish communication skills, but he also helped me prepare for the Spanish CLEP test.
The only regret I have in my high school career is that I did not begin taking Sr. Nance’s classes sooner!”
Linda H. (Parent Spanish 1-4 with Economics) – May 26th, 2016
“My daughter has taken Sr. Nance’s Spanish 2 & Spanish 3 classes. She has really enjoyed his classes and has significantly improved her Spanish language skills in the past two years thanks to his innovative teaching style. He has even developed several Spanish websites that she has found very helpful for additional practice. Sr. Nance assigns many engaging projects that expand the students’ ability to communicate their knowledge of Spanish language and culture. Spanish is now her favorite subject, and she looks forward to taking Spanish 4 with him next year.”
